Are you trying to decide who should win in the battle of ClickFunnels vs GetResponse for your hard earned dollars?
In this article we will try to clear up as many questions as we can – especially if you have been trying to ultimately decide between whether to invest in ClickFunnels or GetResponse for your digital marketing needs.
The good news is that here at FunnelBeginner we use both tools in our business on a daily basis.
We do therefore understand their strengths and weaknesses from direct experience but it is worth pointing out that we do however use each of these tools for entirely different reasons which will cover in just a moment.
First let us provide you with a quick overview of what both of these platforms are and what they are really designed to do.
What Is ClickFunnels?
ClickFunnels is a web-based sales funnel building software that provides you with an easy to use all-in-one solution that can meet virtually all of your online marketing needs.
A funnel, just in case you’re not immediately familiar, is simply a series of web pages organized into a specific order with the intent to either generate a lead, make a sale or in many cases do both.
In a sales funnel a visitor can only reach the next page in the funnel by completing the desired call to action displayed on the previous page – for example you can only get to the next page in the funnel by clicking the button on the current page.
This is VERY different to a traditional website where the traffic you send there has total freedom to click wherever they want to on the page.
For example, they could click to go back to your homepage at any moment or get lost in a menu.
In short, typical websites are full of distractions!
Whereas sales funnels are designed to generate much higher conversions and in turn revenue for you as all of the unnecessary distraction has been removed and there is now only one prescribed path forward.
When it comes to sales funnels and more precisely funnel builder software, ClickFunnels is the category king by a long way.
It has in fact taken the digital marketing space by storm and has grown at a breath-taking speed. ClickFunnels now counts over 100,000 active paying monthly customers and a tribe of over 200,000 members in is Facebook Group.
What Is GetResponse?
GetResponse is a marketing automation platform that specializes in email marketing.
Featuring professional templates and largely email focused features given this is where GetResponse started, GetResponse will help you to build and manage an email list, deliver content to your subscribers and track open and clickthrough rate metrics.
It also features a powerful automation builder that enables you to build detailed workflows based on custom actions a subscriber takes such as opening a message or clicking a link.
While GetResponse originated in the world of email marketing, they have since expanded their service offering to allow customers to build landing pages and run webinars in a similar fashion to ClickFunnels.
ClickFunnels vs GetResponse – Where Is There Crossover In Features?
While both tools have different primary core focuses – ClickFunnels for funnels and GetResponse for email – you will find some crossover between the two solutions given the commonality of certain marketing needs such as follow ups and custom pages as well as the new push by GetResponse to expand beyond email marketing.
Below are the highlighted features of each platform as presented by themselves:
GetResponse
ClickFunnels
One thing to note on the ClickFunnels features breakdown above is that as of September 2019 ClickFunnels has changed the structure of its pricing tiers. You can find complete details here.
Where there is most crossover between ClickFunnels and GetResponse is that both solutions feature autoresponder and CRM capabilities, professional looking templates and sophisticated reporting and analytics.
As mentioned before GetResponse is now trying to take on ClickFunnels and other market players by introducing landing page creation and funnel creation capabilities directly within GetResponse.
BUT…
GetResponse is still an email marketing platform first.
So if you are looking to create a members area for a membership site or other more sophisticated funnel related features such as affiliate tracking/management, then ultimately only ClickFunnels will provide you with the comprehensive suite of features you are looking for.
Can Any Business Use ClickFunnels And GetResponse?
Yes, absolutely!
Both platforms are suitable for businesses of any size and in any industry. They are also good options for anyone who isn’t highly technical or has specific coding experience as in both cases a user-friendly drag-and-drop editor is available with no html knowledge required.
That said, on area where there are definite differences between the two platforms is in pricing plans – we’ll cover these next.
ClickFunnels Vs GetResponse – Pricing Comparison
As with most software, different pricing plans are available on each platform.
That said, ClickFunnels is far more restrictive by only providing two distinctive ClickFunnels pricing plans almost regardless of where you are in your business journey.
These are $97 per month for:
- 20 funnels
- 100 pages
- Up to 20,000 visitors
- 3 custom domains
and $297 per month for ClickFunnels unlimited with Follow Up Funnels (email/SMS automation previously known as Actionetics MD) plus full access to new features such as ClickFunnels FunnelFlix.
GetResponse on the otherhand, allows you to customize your package far more greatly according to your business list size (number of email subscribers) and your desired features:
They also offer greater discounts if you agree to pay 1 year upfront (18% off) or 2 years upfront (30% off). This can mean a considerable amount of saving if you are prepared to invest in one go rather than pay monthly.
In this manner with GetResponse you can be far more targeted in your plan size than with ClickFunnels but conversely one could argue it is simpler to know where you stand with ClickFunnels as there are only 2 options available and you do not risk going over your account quota in usage.
You should also note that you may require a higher paid GetResponse tier plan to get full unlimited use of the automation builder and other features that would be included in the ClickFunnels unlimited plan.

ClickFunnels vs GetResponse – Conclusion
If you have stuck with us this far you will have seen that its clear that both ClickFunnels and GetResponse are robust platforms. We do actually genuinely love them both!
A simple fact remains however…
ClickFunnels is best for funnels and GetResponse is best for email.
When ClickFunnels tries to be an email marketing automation tool it typically comes up short.
And vice versa.
GetResponse knows email cold so why would we use it for average landing pages when ClickFunnels is so damn good at them?
As mentioned at the start of the article, at FunnelBeginner we use both platforms but we use them for the above distinct purposes only. We use ClickFunnels for our landing pages and funnels and GetResponse for our email automation and list management.
In our opinion that represents the perfect blend of usage of each tool whereby we play to both platforms’ inherent strengths and they become complimentary to one another in nature.
So given that both platforms offer a free trial, why not just try both risk free and see if you come to the same conclusion? After all, what do you actually have to lose?
As a reminder you can get your ClickFunnels 14 day trial here and your 30 day free GetResponse trial here.
